Traditional, free or wireless credit card terminal is used by you for secure transactions using the credit cards by the customers. The reliabilities are measured in terms of mean time that exists between the failures called MTBF. It can also be measured by means of the mean cycles between such failures called MCBF.

Since this comes in the common range of two to four million transactions you really do not need the one year warranty that comes with the terminal you buy.  However, considering the rarest chances of ending up with a faulty machine, you can accept the warranty.

You will also require a receipt printer with the credit card terminal you are using. In addition you require the slips for signature by the customers. The selection of printer, whether it is stand alone or integrated, would be between dot matrix and thermal.

The choice is yours depending on the requirements of speed and accuracy and your budget. Inkjet printers, the other type, are steadily losing its market despite its ability to print multiple colors because of the recurring cost involved in replacement of the ink cartridges.

Among the printers used for your traditional or wireless credit card machine the thermal printer seems to be the best bet. Like the inkjet printers the dot matrix printers also have heavy cost of replacement of ribbons and purchase of papers involved.

Thermal printers use heat and special papers that are heat sensitive and slightly expensive initially but have the major advantages of speed, accuracy and quietness that make them preferable to other printer types.
